Your friends and loved ones will always cherish a gift from the heart. Buying handmade means you can enjoy giving & receiving... "Something homemade"

My inspiration comes from the things I see around me. Some days I have so many ideas whirling around in my head I can hardly keep up. Other days one piece will grab me by the heart and not let go until it is just right. In this day and age of machine made everything, the beauty of a handmade gift goes beyond its intrinsic value. To have something that was made with thought and care, and not by a machine or an automated process, is a gift worth having and treasuring.

The name of my shop, Abacus Bead Creations, comes from my day-time (bill-paying) job as an accountant. An abacus is an ancient calculating tool used in many parts of the world for performing arithmetic processes. There are also beads called abacus beads that can be used in jewelry making. So I tied my two passions together to come up with my shop name. And somehow, the anal-retentive accountant in me comes through in my bead work. Many of my necklaces, especially the multi-strand ones, have intricate patterns in them that I make using various colors of seed beads strung into repeating patterns.
